Dental Health Tips
- Brush your teeth at regularly. At least once a day, preferably after every meal and for at least 3 minutes.
- A good way of ensuring that you brush all your teeth thoroughly, is to count to ten as you brush so that every tooth is brushed for
at least ten seconds. Start at the top right outside of the teeth - brush and count to ten. Brush the top of the - teeth brush and
count to ten. Then brush the inside of the top right teeth - brush and count to ten. Repeat on the bottom right, then the top and bottom
of the left side until all your teeth have been brushed. Then floss, and rinse.
-
Eating healthily and drinking water can help reduce your chances of developing cavities as well as combating halitosis. After you
have drunk sodas or juices, drink a glass of water to clear the harmful effects of residual sugars or acids.
-
If you suffer with bad breath, the first step in combating it is to make sure you brush both your teeth and your tongue really
well - dead skin on your tongue can contribute to bad mouth odour. You should spend three minutes minimum brushing your teeth every
day. Your choice of foods can also play a part in having bad breath as can your general health, so check these out with your
doctor.
-
Have a regular dental check up. Your dentist will ask you to come back every 6 to 24 months depending on the health of your teeth and
your own dental regime. Having a quick brush before you go for a check up won't fool them. Teeth will decay and discolour over
time and only proper dental hygiene will keep your mouth as healthy as it should be. If you experience halitosis or other oral
health problems your dentist will want to check up on you more frequently, in case it is a more serious problem.
