Acupuncture
Acupuncture originated in China, centuries ago, as a form of natural healing. It aims to balance the energy
force (or the vital energy) in the body whilst releasing the negative energy which might exist. Acupuncture works on the body as a whole,
rather than on individual parts, and believes that if all the parts of the body are in harmony with each other, then the individual will be
a healthier person.
Acupuncture is a form of complementary or alternative medicine (CAM) to
which people generally turn, when they feel that traditional medicine or treatments are not providing them with enough help, or when they want
something else to accompany their Western medication.
Acupuncture might be a worthwhile proposition if you are finding the costs of other treatments are becoming
prohibitive.
It can also be a desirable alternative where an individual is experiencing side effects from conventional treatment, as
acupuncture - when provided by a professional - is not prone to causing many side effects.
Many health conditions can be alleviated with acupuncture treatments:
- Respiratory diseases such as acute rhinitis, acute sinusitis, acute tonsillitis and the common cold. All can be
helped with acupuncture. Bronchopulmonary diseases such as acute bronchitis and bronchial asthma have both been shown to respond with
excellent results.
- Eye disorders helped with acupuncture include acute conjunctivitis, myopia, and central retinitis, and
cataract that has no complications.
- Disorders of the mouth cavity including gingivitis, toothache, pharyngitis, and pain or discomfort that
oft-times takes place after a tooth extraction.
- Orthopedic disorders as well. Acupuncture can help tennis elbow, lower back pain, rheumatoid
arthritis, sciatica and periarthritis humeroscapularis.
- Acupuncture can also help improve gastrointestinal disorders such as hiccups, gastroptosis, spasms that
take place in the cardia and the esophagus, gastric hyperacidity, acute and chronic gastritis, acute bacterial dysentery, chronic duodenal
ulcer, acute as well as chronic colitis, constipation, diarrhoea, and paralytic ileus.
- And neurological disorders like headaches and migraines in particular, facial paralysis, trigeminal neuralgia,
peripheral neuropathy, meniere’s syndrome, intercostals neuralgia, nocturnal enuresis, paralysis after an apoplectic fit, neurogenic bladder
dysfunction, and paralysis that is caused by poliomyelitis.
You will need to consult a qualified practitioner of acupuncture to determine whether this treatment
can aid any medical condition of your own. You will be required to discuss your medical history, and to disclose any illnesses, allergies or
injuries you have had. Only after a thorough understanding of your medical past can a possible course of treatment be decided.
